Join the Carnival Committee as they officially launch Carnival 2026 with the Flag Raising and lighting of the torch at City Hall. Hot Chocolate provided by Colemans and Nestle Carnation.
6:45 p.m. Torch Light People Parade
Join in the fun and adventure! Walk with our Committee and Chair and special guests as they carry the Carnival Torch from City Hall to Margaret Bowater Park. The parade route will leave City Hall, proceed up Park Street, onto West Valley Road, and turn onto Elswick Road ending at Margaret Bowater Park. Bring your family and friends and have some fun!
7:00 p.m. Opening Ceremonies – Party in the Park (EVENT POSTER)
Margaret Bowater Park, O’Connell Drive. Come celebrate Carnival’s Night of Music and Magic. Join in the excitement as Leif the Lucky emerges from his hut to begin the 10 days of Carnival 2026. Come enjoy outdoor entertainment, fireworks, and hotdogs/hot chocolate provided free of charge. Enter to win the prizes from Leif’s Treasure Chest (must be in attendance to win).
